PRESS RELEASE

Ryan Campbell Garrett Art Advisory is thrilled to announce its inaugural exhibition in Rancho Santa Fe, California. This event marks the first of many upcoming presentations in the area. The exhibition will take place from March 29th to April 25th, 2025, at 6033 W Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, California 92067.

The exhibition serves as a unique opportunity for RCG to present a distinguished array of contemporary visual artists in Rancho Santa Fe, bringing high-caliber artworks directly to the community without the need for trips to major cities like New York, Los Angeles, or London.

This pop-up exhibition will feature a diverse range of contemporary artworks created by a multigenerational group of artists who work across various media and genres, highlighting different approaches to color, landscape, portraiture, abstraction, and overall creative practices. The lineup includes some of the most influential figures in American art over the past sixty years, as well as mid-career and emerging artists.

The exhibition showcases a vibrant and saturated watercolor abstraction on washi paper by the late Sam Gilliam, highlighting the artist’s impactful and extensive career. It also features a small-scale yet dynamic painting by Lynne Mapp Drexler, filled with clusters of colorful strokes that evoke themes of contemplation, music, and nature. A key lithograph titled "That Was Then This Is Now" by Ed Ruscha—after which the exhibition is named—features the artist’s familiar typeface floating on an ominous, smoky sky that conveys a sense of wit, uncertainty, and confidence.

The exhibition also features a selection of soft and cheerful pastorals, interiors, and portraits by Claire Milbrath. Her works are rich in dreamlike symbolism and capture the vitality of life’s everyday moments. Additionally, paintings by Whitney Bedford blend the natural, historical, and imagined, serving as portals that depict contrasting times, emotional states, and climate realities. The exhibition further includes the vibrant gestural abstractions of Kim DeJesus, whose atmospheric works delve into the non-representational complexities of nature, perception, and the human psyche. Also on view are two limited edition prints by Lily Stockman, who draws inspiration from her experiences with California light and nature to create abstract compositions where organic shapes glow and vibrate with the energy of heightened colors.
